De-coring and appearance finishing:

Divided into two types, dry and wet. Dry finishing is the finishing of castings using mechanical equipment. The equipment used is simple, the production power is high, and it has greater adaptability to different types of castings, and has the advantages of not only removing the core but also effectively finishing the appearance. The disadvantage is that the equipment is often dusty, noisy, and pollute the environment when the equipment is in operation. There is no dust in wet finishing, but because of the use of water as a medium, the surface of the casting is slightly rusty. During the operation, a lot of sewage and sand with cement are produced, which brings about problems such as sand and water regeneration and sludge treatment.

①Roller finishing. Put the castings and star iron into a round drum together. When the drum rotates, the impact and friction between the castings, star iron and waste sand will remove the sand on the surface and the inside of the casting. Edge burrs. This type of equipment is suitable for finishing small and medium-sized castings with simpler shapes and thicker walls.

② Shot blasting finishing. The impact force of high-speed steel shot, iron shot, and abrasive flow is used to remove the core and sticky sand, and polish the appearance of the casting. In addition, the commonly used shot blasting equipment includes shot blasting table and shot blasting room. The shot blasting finishing machinery used for continuous production includes a chain plate shot blasting drum, a continuous shot blasting table, and a suspended continuous production shot blasting finishing room. The operation and maintenance cost of this kind of equipment is relatively high.

③Hydraulic sand removal. The high-pressure water is shot from the nozzle of the spray gun to the processed castings through the pipeline, and the core and casting sticky sand are removed by the kinetic energy and scouring effect of the water flow. Hydraulic sand cleaning is generally equipped with an open finishing room composed of section steel and steel plate. The bottom is equipped with a rotary table. The spray gun is installed on the side wall, which can move up and down and rotate, so that high-pressure water can be sprayed to any part except the bottom surface of the casting. Sometimes in order to improve the power to remove the sticky sand on the surface of the precision castings, abrasives such as quartz sand are introduced into the appropriate position of the spray gun to obtain high-speed water sand flow. This method is generally called water sand cleaning.

④ Water explosion to clear the sand. After the mold is poured, the casting is boxed when it cools to a regular temperature. When it is immersed in a pool, water enters the mold through all gaps and contacts the high-temperature metal rapidly, vaporizing and blasting. The shock wave can completely remove the sand attached to the surface of the casting. The water blasting method has the advantages of short working time and high power.
