Electroplating hangers can have different types of hangers according to the shape of the parts, the technical requirements of the plating layer, the electroplating process and the size of the equipment. For example, there is a difference between automatic lines and manual lines. Usually the electroplating workshop has prepared universal hangers suitable for various common parts and special hangers designed and manufactured only for certain parts. There are many types of universal hangers, which are suitable for a variety of processes and parts.

Dongguan Precision CastingSpecial hangers are divided into two situations: one is a special hanger designed for mass production of parts; the other is a special hanger designed according to the complex geometry of the part and the special process requirements.

Universal hanger

The universal hanger is suitable for a variety of parts and processes. The form and structure of the general electroplating hanger should be determined according to the geometry of the plated parts, the technical requirements of the coating, the process method and the size of the equipment. For example, the sheet-like plated parts will drift off with the resistance of the plating solution between the upper and lower processes. When choosing a hanger, the plated parts should be clamped or tightly tied with copper wires. If the plated parts are heavy and have holes, hook-shaped hangers can be used. The requirements for use are as follows:

(1) Hanger for manual operation. The loading weight is generally 1~3kg.

(2) The hook should have enough conductive area, and its type should make the conductivity good. The hanger hook should be cleaned frequently.

(3) When using, please install and handle with care, and try not to damage the insulation layer. Otherwise, it will cause the hanger and the workpiece to rush for electricity, resulting in partial failure or roughness of the workpiece, which will affect the quality of the coating.

(4) After the hanger is used, it should be cleaned and stored in a centralized and proper way for later use.

(5) The hanger after use for a period of time should be processed in time, and the plating layer on the hanger should be removed to ensure good conduction. Cracks in the insulating layer of the hanger should be repaired or re-insulated in time.

(1) Inner hole plated fixture by bipolar method.

(2) Chrome plated fixtures. The chromium plating solution has strong oxidation ability, and the material of the hanger should be stable. Titanium or copper can be used as the hanger. The conductive part of the fixture should have sufficient cross-sectional area and not generate heat. The fixture structure is connected by welding, and the conductive copper hook should be bent into a right angle. Fixtures and parts should be in contact with threads as much as possible. The anode and cathode of the inner hole chrome plating fixture must be isolated from electricity. Use insulating blocks (hard plastic plates or plexiglass) instead of protecting the cathode. The non-working surface of the fixture should be insulated to reduce current consumption. The position where the parts are mounted should be the easiest to remove the gas. Under the premise of ensuring its applicability, the hanger should be as light, simple, versatile, and convenient to install and unload as possible.

Hanger for electroplating of small parts

Precision cast steelSmall parts can be electroplated by barrel plating. If there is no barrel plating condition, the hanging basket can be used as the plating tool. The frame of the hanging basket is brass or iron wire, and the bottom and surroundings are made of metal wire mesh. The size of the mesh is based on the parts that do not leak out of the hole. A larger hole is beneficial to obtain a uniform thickness of the coating. In order to improve the quality of the coating and increase the deposition rate, a drilled plastic plate can be used to replace the surrounding metal mesh.

Hanger for chemical treatment

When phosphating and oxidizing steel parts, hangers can be used, or it can be carried out in a hanging basket. Generally, the hanging basket is used as much as possible. Under the condition of lifting equipment, the hanging basket can be larger. The hangers are all made of steel materials. Copper or brass is not used to ensure the quality of the film, because the copper will dissolve in these solutions and contaminate the solution, which will affect the quality of the film. The form of the hanger is the same as electroplating except that there is no electrical conductivity requirement.

The hangers and hanging baskets used for pickling are easily damaged, and materials with good corrosion resistance should be selected or plastic products should be used directly. Its shape is the same as that of small parts electroplating.

The oxidation of iron and steel parts does not need to be energized. Usually, a hanging basket is used. It only requires that the hanging has high mechanical strength, good corrosion resistance, and easy loading and unloading of the workpiece. For more precise workpieces or workpieces with external threads, in order to prevent collisions, it is advisable to use hangers.

Aluminum and aluminum alloy hangers

When aluminum parts are anodized, aluminum and aluminum alloy hangers should be used. The hanger should have flexibility to clamp the parts to prevent the formation of a non-conductive oxide film due to contact with loose parts, which will affect the continued progress of anodization.
